A new year. A new edition. Time to reflect on where we are and where we want to go.
First of all, I have to say I’m thrilled! Thrilled with the enormously positive feedback our first edition of FOCUS has received from a broad swath of the industry, and thrilled by the number of submissions for this edition.
You will notice that we have made a few changes:
1. We have added news and information from MCA-I National as well as from other chapters. See the MCA-I National section.
2. There is a feature story from one of our new contributors, Stephen Warley, of TVSpy.com, who writes about next-generation technology. Check out Augmented Reality.
3. A new regular feature comes from Lisa Yapp, a producer and reviewer, who shares with us her brief and amusing thoughts on the latest movies, plays and videos in New York City. Check out Yapp Around Town.
As you browse through this newsletter you will notice quite a number of award winners among our members. Congratulations to all! It shows how many excellent professionals there are among MCA-I members, and is proof that there’s life in our business despite fears of war and a bad economy.
I want to thank all those who contributed articles. Without you, this newsletter could not exist. I also want to thank and commend all the members who sent in their press releases. Remember, only New York members in good standing get published in Member News. You recognized the value of this publication. It’s purpose is to serve our members by giving all of you a chance to toot your own horn, and tell all of our readers about the professionals in this association.
That leads me to a quick reminder. This is generally the time to renew your membership. If you have not done so I’d urge you to do it right now by either mailing your payment to National or paying online at www.mca-i.org (click on “Members” and renew). We have come very far in a few months. Our organization is moving along in new and exciting directions. We want to thank Carl Levine and Creative Bubble for believing in FOCUS and becoming a sponsor. We hope you’ll all come along for the ride, share your stories, attend meetings, maybe even volunteer your time and make this association the best it can be. I look forward to hearing from you.
