The final two months of MCA-I NY’s programming season were hectic but rewarding. Having come through an unusually ambitious year during which we constructed a new Web site; launched an online newsletter, FOCUS on New York Media; revamped our print newsletter, NY Spotlight; and managed to produce an industry event each month, we were grateful to put the last three babies to bed.
Marketing Panel
The final three events of the season followed in relatively close succession. On May 21, we presented Marketing Your Business: Plant the Seeds to Succeed. I had the privilege of working with three communications pros to create what turned out to be an informative evening. The event was hosted by Con Edison of New York at their Irving Place headquarters. Henry English covered it and filed this report.
Documentary Film Screenings
On June 11, FOCUS film critic Lisa Yapp produced The 1st Annual MCA-I NY Documentary Film Festival, a special screening of three of the four documentaries nominated for the Academy Award for Documentary Short Subject. Goldcrest Post Production provided their elegant facility for the evening screening and reception. New York chapter members and their guests, members from the New Jersey chapter, and one guest from the Detroit chapter (!) attended. Read Brian Bradley’s article about this unique event.
Garden Party
By June 23, the night of our Annual Wrap Party, we were ready to lift a toast to the lazy, hazy days ahead. Thanks to party maven, Lee Spinelli, an enthusiastic group gathered at favorite haunt, Marlowe, for a delicious dinner and the usual good-natured exhibitionism. Check our photo gallery for the evidence! Have a great summer; we’ll see you in September!
